Industry: Display
Application: Airport Kiosk
Power Solution: NMP650 Series
In modern airport environments, kiosk systems have become essential for enhancing passenger self-service capabilities — including check-in, boarding pass printing, baggage tagging, and real-time information display. These kiosks integrate a variety of internal components, such as touchscreens, printers, barcode scanners, and embedded computing units, each requiring different operating voltages and precise power control.

CUSTOMER PAIN POINTS:
-
Complex Multi-PSU Setup: The customer's existing kiosk design used several separate power supplies to deliver 24V, 12V, and 5V to various subsystems. This increased wiring complexity, integration effort, and maintenance costs, while reducing system reliability.
-
Channel Control and Safety Compliance:They require individual channel on/off control for each voltage rail to manage power sequencing and enable efficient servicing. Additionally, compliance with IEC 62368-1 was essential for global deployment, but their current solution lacked proper certification.
POWER SOLUTION:
To address the customer’s needs, we recommended the NMP650-CEH#-00 modular power supply — a flexible and compact system that delivers multiple isolated outputs from a single unit, reducing system complexity while enhancing performance and safety.
-
All-in-One Modular Design:
The NMP650 series offers up to 650W total output across four configurable slots. The selected CEH# configuration provides three independent channels:
5V (C)
12V (E)
24V (H)
Each module supports up to 240W output, with the option to parallel multiple channels to scale up power where needed. The modular architecture replaces multiple PSUs with one integrated solution, simplifying wiring and reducing space requirements.
-
Safe and Flexible Output Control:
Each output module supports individual remote ON/OFF control, enabling flexible power sequencing and simplified maintenance. At the same time, the NMP series ensures a low leakage current of just 0.4mA, well below the typical 0.75mA safety threshold required in airport environments. Unlike conventional setups using multiple PSUs—where leakage can accumulate and exceed limits—the NMP’s leakage performance remains consistent regardless of slot count or module configuration, providing both operational control and certified safety in a single solution.
-
Certified for Safety:
The entire system is certified to IEC 62368-1, ensuring compliance with international safety standards for ICT and AV equipment, which is a critical requirement for public airport environments.

CONCLUSION:
The NMP650-CEH#-00 delivered a streamlined, compliant, and efficient power solution tailored to the airport kiosk system’s diverse voltage and control needs. Its modular design allowed the customer to consolidate multiple power supplies into a single compact unit, with the added benefits of remote control, scalability, and robust certification. By upgrading to the NMP series, the customer significantly reduced system complexity, improved serviceability, and ensured their self-service kiosks were ready for global deployment with full safety compliance.
