PinBall Machines have experienced a resurgence in recent year due to penetration into home entertainment market. Also, PinBall Bars are gaining popularity in metro cities for the enthusiasts. Therefore, the PinBall Machine Industry is expected to grow in the future.   

CUSTOMER PAIN POINTS:
PinBall Machine uses an AC/DC power supply to charge a large capacitor bank due to high current demand of the DC solenoids that used to drive the ball. The power supply needs to have constant current limiting output feature to charge the capacitor bank because large capacitive load usually saturates the power supply. Also, ventilation DC Fan is needed to exact the heat out of the machine. However, idle Audible noise (< 35db) is a common requirement for PinBall Machine because of home use and large installation in one area. 
 

POWER SOLUTION:
 MEAN WELL presents the customized HRP-600 series to solve the pain points. The HRP-600 series design already has built-in constant current limiting and DC Fan ON/OFF control features that automatically turn the fan on when temperature rise or load increased. In order words, when the Machine is idle, the fan is not ON to lower the audible noise. After understanding the power supply operation in the Machine and Tests, MEAN WELL Technical Service Team was able to change the power supply DC fan to further lower the noise. This helps to improve the machine overall audible noise during operation.
 

CONCLUSION:
The HRP-600 series features constant current limiting out and Fan on/off control along with Engineering Service provide a complete solution to the PinBall Machine application by lower its Audible noise and capacitor charging needed.
