MEAN WELL has announced the introduction of a new style switching power supply ~ fanless ATX power in the adaptor type plastic enclosure. ATX-100 is rated for 100W continuously and possesses the capability of 125W or 150W peak load for short term. With the built-in active PFC function, ATX-100 can fulfill the requirement of harmonic current per EN-61000-3-2 and reduce the energy consumption in the mean time. Accompany with the design of “no load power consumption < 1W”, this switcher can achieve the energy saving requirement of many commercial / consumer appliance which being asked more and more frequently nowadays.

Using the special-made 18AWGx20C UL rated cable with 20-pin connector as the output connection and the fully isolated plastic case, ATX-100 is easier and safer for users to assemble than conventional internal type ATX power. The bothersome safety issue related to high voltage source has been taken care by this external power supply and the end system designer should only face a SELV (safety-extra-low-voltage) environment. This will be a huge advantage for system designers to reduce the size and time to market of their end products. Standard functions include power OK signal, PS-ON control, short circuit, over load, over voltage, and over temperature protections. Suitable application will be POS-system, home multi-media system, and industrial PC-based equipment.
